Challenge Cup fourth round draw date and broadcast details confirmed

Challenge Cup

The RFL have confirmed details for the Challenge Cup fourth round draw, which will take place next week.

The competition is already at the third round stage and 13 of the 14 Super League clubs will be in action this weekend against lower league opposition. Of course, the top flight clubs are considered to be strong favourites to claim their spot in the hat for the fourth round, but there’s always the chance of an upset.

The 16 third round winners will make up the fourth round and there will be at least three Championship sides included in the draw.
And, the governing body has confirmed that the draw will take place on Monday, February 9 at 6.40pm.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though the draw will be available to watch again, which certainly caused controversy last month for the third round. However, it can be followed through the radio, with the draw set to be broadcast live on BBC Radio Manchester.

Of course, BBC Radio Manchester can be found on FM for those in the local area or on DAB or BBC Sounds for those not in that catchment area.

The draw will be held by Jon Wilkin, a 2006 Challenge Cup winner, and Kevin Brown, who featured in two Cup finals as a player.

Ball numbers will be confirmed following this weekend’s third round action, with all fourth round ties to be played over the weekend of March 14-15.

The third round of the Challenge Cup gets underway this evening with champions Hull KR taking on the last remaining amateur side Lock Lane at Craven Park. Hull FC travel to Salford RLFC, while Warrington Wolves host Sheffield Eagles, St Helens travel to Workington Town and Huddersfield Giants take on Hunslet.
