Catalans youngster signs new deal

Catalans Dragons back rower Paul Séguier has today signed a one-year contract with the club.

He has put pen to paper on a contract extension that will secure his future at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of next season.

Séguier, 23, joined the club academy in 2015. He played his first professional game the year after in Super League. This season, the young back rower played five Super League games and scored his first try at Salford Red Devils last month.

Reacting to the new deal, he said: “I really want to keep working hard to give myself the opportunity to play week in week out. I will now enjoy the break after a tough 2020 season and I can’t wait to be back in 2021.”

Dragons Head Coach Steve McNamara added: “I am delighted that Paul has re-signed with the Dragons. He has worked tirelessly over the period I have been involved in the club and he is starting to reap the rewards of that.

“He forced himself into the starting 17 for both the playoff games and with us on the back of incredible efforts in training and is a great example for all of our players.

“With the clear shift from ourselves of reducing the age of our pack and creating opportunities for our developing younger players, Paul reap the benefits of that as he attempts to fully establish himself as a regular in the team.”
