Catalans v Wakefield: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

League leaders Catalans play their third consecutive home game when they host Wakefield tonight. The Dragons are looking for an eleventh win a row to cement their place at the top of the table. Where Wakefield are concerned, they need to build on the positives shown in their recent performances especially if they want to cause the upset against the Champions-elect.

It’s been an up and down week for the Dragons in terms of availability. Key backrowers Mike McMeeken and skipper Benjamin Garcia drop out whilst James Maloney, Joel Tomkins and Michael McIlorum return. With James Maloney back, the Dragons will have their first choice halves for the first time in three games meaning Arthur Mourgue will likely drop to the bench. I fancy Joel Tomkins to start there as well as Mickael Goudemand fills in at loose-forward for the injured Garcia and Benjamin Jullien moves to second-row in McMeeken’s absence. Whether McIlorum plays should be interesting with Alrix Da Costa settled at nine and Mourgue in scintillating form.

As for Trinity, Max Jowitt should return to fullback having missed the defeat to Wigan. Meanwhile, Jay Pitts’ suspension could mean Kelepi Tanginoa moves to the second-row having played prop for most of the season. With Liam Kay, Lee Kershaw and Innes Senior all available, Chris Chester also has a conundrum to solve on the wings whilst pondering whether Ryan Hampshire should feature in some capacity.
