Catalans Dragons turn to the NRL after abandoning pursuit of Huddersfield Giants star Ricky Leutele

The future of Huddersfield Giants star Ricky Leutele has been one of the most talked about during the 2022 Super League season.

The former Toronto Wolfpack and Melbourne Storm star has enjoyed a tremendous year in the Claret and Gold, but he is set to depart the West Yorkshire club after two fruitful seasons at the John Smith’s Stadium.

His next destination, however, is unclear with a number of clubs thought to be chasing the centre.

Leigh Centurions and Leeds Rhinos are thought to be chasing him with the former in the driving seat, but one club that has dropped out of the race is the Catalans Dragons.

That’s according to French publication Treize Mondial with the Dragons hunting fresh new blood from the NRL instead.

Catalans endured a difficult end to the season after cementing their top four place in the top four, losing to the Leeds Rhinos in the qualifying play-offs.

That has prompted a change from chairman Bernard Guasch who has hired sporting director Neil McIlroy in a bid to change the French club’s fortunes in 2023.

There has also been a major turnover in players with the likes of Dean Whare and Samisoni Langi saying goodbye after a number of years at the club.
