Last week, Arthur Mourgue scans to determine the extent of his injury after picking up a problem during training.
Those scans revealed that the French fullback has suffered a ruptured ligament in his left ankle.
The French international was reviewed by a specialist and the decision has been made to treat the injury without surgery.
Mourgue is said to likely return between 10-12 weeks, but it’s a major blow for the Dragons after Sam Tomkins’ understudy enjoyed a stellar 2021 Super League season.
The diminutive number one enthralled audiences with his electric running and ability to chime into the line, but Catalans will likely use Tyrone May in that ‘number 14′ role off the substitutes’ bench following his move from Penrith Panthers.
May was one of three signings made by the French side in the off-season, with Dylan Napa signing from Canterbury Bulldogs and Mitchell Pearce also making the move from Newcastle Knights.
