Catalans Dragons are set to be primed and ready for another tilt at the Super League Grand Final with head coach Steve McNamara and owner Bernard Guasch doing their best to add the quality needed to be there come September 24th.
Among those signings are Dylan Napa, Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce – all three of whom are from the NRL and ready to take Super League by storm.
Of course, the Dragons lost James Maloney, but Pearce will be more than an adequate replacement.
At the top of the list of McNamara’s priorities this year, though, will be the need to tie down a huge number of his squad.
A massive 18 first-team members of the Catalans squad are out of contract at the end of 2022, including reigning Man of Steel Sam Tomkins.
Fellow Englishmen Michael McIlorum, Mike McMeeken and Matt Whitley are also without a deal beyond 2022 – as is Welshman Gil Dudson.
French youngsters Joe Chan, Mathieu Cozza, Matthieu Laguerre, Corentin Le Cam, Arthur Romano and entrenched Frenchmen Paul Seguier and Fouad Yaha will be looking to impress McNamara and Guasch moving forward, too.
Alrix da Costa, Benjamin Jullien, Sam Kasiano, Samisoni Langi, Tyrone May and Dean Whare make up the 18.
Of course, the club’s hierarchy will be wanting to keep the class of 2021 – which won the League Leaders’ Shield for the first time last season – together as much as possible.
