Catalans Dragons star Sam Tomkins drops future hint for post-playing career

One of the most elusive and electric fullbacks to have ever played Super League is nearing the end of his career in the sport.

For Sam Tomkins, it’s been a fruitful career – three Grand Final wins and two Challenge Cup successes are not something to be sniffed at.

Another Grand Final loss with the Catalans Dragons in 2021 left its mark, but Tomkins is determined to right that wrong.

Lately, the former New Zealand Warriors star has been engaging in commentary and punditry alongside the likes of Leon Pryce on Channel 4.

And, for Tomkins, that is something that he wants to pursue after retirement.

“It’s something that I’ve always been involved in and enjoyed,” Tomkins told the Trot The Egg In podcast.

“I’ve had a great relationship with Sky Sports over the years doing little bits with Boots n All and then dong the commentary and punditry for Sky and Channel 4 more recently.

“It’s something I could see myself getting into after I retire as it’s something I enjoy doing.

“It’s a side of the sport that not many people get involved in – I know a lot about rugby but I don’t know much about television so to learn that side of things has been good.”
