Catalans Dragons reveal squad numbers with only one signing making the first 13

Catalans Dragons have had their launch party for the 2023 season tonight and with that comes their squad numbers for the upcoming Super League campaign.

As such they’ve become the 12th and final team to announce their shirt numbers for 2023 and Steve McNamara’s squad is full of talent, although not one new signing has been designated a starting 13 shirt.

Obviously shirt numbers don’t guarantee starting spots given that England skipper and Dragons star man Sam Tomkins wears 29 once again.

The Dragons announced their squad numbers via their Twitter following their launch evening.

The new signing that cracks the first 13 is Australian centre Adam Keighran who has signed from Sydney Roosters.

His fellow Rooster that has joined, Siua Taukeiaho, will wear number 23 whilst Super League signing Tom Johnstone takes shirt 24.

The remaining two signings Romain Navarrete (Toulouse) and Manu Ma’u (Hull FC) wear 16 and 26.

With those new signings all being accounted for it means that the full squad has 30 players in, although just recently the Perpignan side called up five players from their reserve system.

Young Frenchman Arthur Mourgue wears one, wingers Tom Davies and Fouad Yaha don two and five with the latter set to miss up to five months, as reported here.

The centres are Adam Keighran in three and Mathiue Laguerra in four to round out the back line.

Playmarkers Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce wear six and seven following the loss of Josh Drinkwater to Warrington Wolves.

A front row in the pack comprises England stars Mike McMeeken (eight) and Micky McIlorum (nine) whilst Julian Busequet (10) fills out the other prop number.

Matt Whitley (13), Paul Seguier (12) and skipper Benjamin Garcia (13) round out the traditional starting numbers.

Alix Da Costa (14), Mickael Goudeman (15), Romain Navarrete (16), Cesar rouge (17), Tiaki Chan (18) and Arthur Romano (19) round out the teens.

New signing Taukeiaho, Johnstone and Ma’u wear 22, 24 and 26 respectively with England star Tomkins wearing 29.

The remainign numbers are filled out by plenty of youth players with Jordan Dezaria (23), Bastien Scimone (25), Leo Laurent (27), Ugo Tison (28), Loan Castano (30), Tanguy Zenon (31) and Mike Parenti (32) filling out the French side’s squad.

They’ll play one pre-season game against a selection of Elite One young French stars prior to the season starting when they make the trip to face Wakefield Trinity in week one.
