Catalans Dragons are set to make three headline-making signings ahead of the 2022 Super League season.
Newcastle Knights halfback Mitchell Pearce is expected to make the move to the south of France, whilst Sydney Roosters forward Sio Siua Taukeiaho and Canterbury Bulldogs outcast Dylan Napa are also said to be on their way.
Pearce will be a straight-swap replacement for outgoing halfback James Maloney, who has joined FC Lezignan in the Elite One Championship, whilst Taukeiaho is a close friend of ex-Catalans’ prop Sam Moa, who is also – ironically – at Lezignan following his switch from Super League ahead of the 2021 season.
Napa, on the other hand, has been on the periphery for a while at the Canterbury Bulldogs after the rampaging forward won a Grand Final with the Sydney Roosters back in 2018. Napa left for Canterbury in 2019 where his career has somewhat stagnated to the point at which the Bulldogs told him that they wouldn’t be retaining him following the culmination of the 2021 NRL season.
Catalans President Bernard Guasch has already spoken of his intent to sign new forwards and Napa and Taukeiaho would certainly fit the bill in a side which narrowly lost the 2021 Super League Grand Final.
