Catalans Dragons confirm huge NRL signing with immediate effect

Brisbane s Josh McGuire recives the ball from Jarrod Wallace who has signed for Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons have announced the signing of Jarrod Wallace from NRL side The Dolphins with immediate effect.

The Australian prop has signed with the club until the end of the season from Wayne Bennett‘s side.

Wallace, 32, began his career at Brisbane Broncos, making his debut in 2012 in a 40-22 victory against the Sydney Roosters. He then made the switch to the Titans ahead of the 2017 season, where he made 118 appearances, scoring 15 tries. He moved to the Dolphins on 2023.

The Australian prop, who has played 212 NRL games and 24 tries in his career, has also represented Queensland on six occasions.

He seemed to want to remain in NRL, as he told The Brisbane Times last year: “That (re-signing with the Dolphins) obviously would be my plan. Wayne will be leaving, and I’m sure he’ll still be around, but to be able to stay and play another couple of years under Woolfy, that’s my goal.

“I get along really well with him, he’s exactly what I want in a coach – he tells me exactly where I am and how it is, and that’s why I love Wayne.”

However, he has now committed to Catalans Dragons in Super League until the end of this year.

This comes just a few weeks ahead of the transfer deadline for transfers in 2024.

Steve McNamara said: “To add a player of Jarrod’s quality and experience at this stage of the season is a huge boost to our squad. The depth he will add to our forwards is much needed and we look forward to welcoming him and his family into our organization.”
