Catalans Dragons have confirmed that 13 players will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.
The Dragons announced on Wednesday that Sam Tomkins has retired with immediate effect but they have now firmed up who else will be parting ways with the French club in the coming weeks.
The headline name is undoubtedly Luke Keary, who has been released from the final year of his contract at the Stade Gilbert Brutus. Keary has struggled to make the desired impact in Super League and while he has scored six tries in 25 games so far, it’s fair to say his spell at Catalans has been a disappointing one.
Elliott Whitehead is another set to depart the club with the back-rower due to retire. Whitehead joined the Dragons ahead of the 2025 season for the second time but he has spent the last few months out injured.
The former England international has made over 400 career appearances, with the back-rower starting his career at Bradford Bulls before joining Catalans originally and Canberra Raiders. He made 205 outings in the NRL for the latter. The 35-year-old also has 27 caps for England and four for Great Britain under his belt.
Reimis Smith, who scored a hat-trick last week against Castleford Tigers, will also be retiring at the end of the season, despite being just 28. The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm man joined the Dragons last year and has made 21 appearances.
We already knew about the departures of Tevita Pangai Jr and Theo Fages who will be joining Warrington Wolves and Pia respectively.
However, overseas forwards Tariq Sims and Bayley Sironen will also be leaving with the latter being linked with a move to St Helens earlier on this week.
Fouad Yaha is set to continue his career elsewhere, the Dragons have confirmed. Yaha is the club’s all-time top tryscorer, but his next steps have not been revealed.
Paul Seguier will be joining Carcassone, while Arthur Romano and Tanguy Zenon will also be moving on, with the Frenchmen all leaving the Stade Gilbert Brutus.
The 13th and final man departing is Denive Balmforth, who will be returning to parent club Hull FC after a successful loan stint.
The departing players will have the chance to say goodbye to the Stade Gilbert Brutus faithful on Saturday when Catalans play their final home game of the Super League season against Warrington Wolves.
