Catalans Dragons Head Coach Steve McNamara has been named March’s Betfred Coach of the Month.
With voting based on rounds four to six, McNamara was chosen after his Catalans side earned three wins from three during the month of March.
It comes after a history-breaking season for the Dragons in which they won their first ever League Leaders’ Shield and appeared in a maiden Grand Final. McNamara was named the 2021 Coach of the Year after guiding the team to those historic achievements.
McNamara also won the monthly Betfred Coach of the Month award twice last season and his Catalans side are quickly finding form reminiscent of 2021 following three impressive wins in March.
The Dragons ended both Warrington and Wigan’s unbeaten starts to 2022 in consecutive weeks – a tough win on the road against the Wolves was backed up by an impressive 28-0 win against the Warriors in the South of France.
Steve McNamara’s side concluded the month with a gritty victory at home against Hull KR which left the Dragons joint top of the Betfred Super League table after six rounds.
And the Dragons Head Coach was quick to recognise the efforts of his coaching staff after picking up this month’s award. He explained, “Credit must go to our whole staff for the thorough preparation they have provided the playing group.
“It was a good month of results for us and whilst not being totally fluent yet in all aspects of our game we managed to find different ways to win.”
