Catalans Dragons beat off competition from two clubs to make fourth stunning signing but he won’t arrive till 2023

Siosiua Taukeiaho (10) of Sydney Roosters vs Super LEague St Helens

Catalans Dragons will announce their fourth stunning signing in the upcoming weeks after nailing another NRL star.

That star, Siosiua Taukeiaho, was linked with a move to the south of France a fortnight ago, but that deal has reportedly been completed after it was revealed that two NRL clubs missed out on his signature.

Fox Sports has reported that Sydney Roosters wanted Taukeiaho to stay and even offered him another deal, but that the salary cap space wasn’t enough to keep the rampaging Tongan international at the club.

The new NRL side Dolphins were also interested and offered the 29-year-old a deal to join their new top-flight franchise from the end of 2022 onwards.

However, Taukeiaho will be plying his trade in Perpignan from the 2023 Super League season onwards and will follow in the footsteps of NRL powerhouse Dylan Napa and playmakers Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce.

The Dragons fell short of their first Super League Grand Final title in 2021, narrowly losing 12-10 to St Helens, but they did win their first ever League Leaders’ Shield following a dominant performance in the league.

Catalans, arguably, look even stronger on paper ahead of the 2022 season than last, with the NRL trio all adding some incredible quality to the French side’s ranks.
