Daryl Powell and Chris Chester have kept squad changes to a minimum this week ahead of Castleford Tigers’ clash against Wakefield Trinity. Wakefield are the only side with something beyond pride to play for at The Jungle and they’ll be keen to bolster their chances of securing a spot in the top six by picking up a win over their local rivals.
The Trin have already secured two wins over the Tigers this season and they’ll be looking to make a clean sweep over their local rivals in the club’s first season back in the top flight.
Wakefield will be without Isaiah Vagana due to the injury he picked up last time out against Huddersfield Giants. The forward will be a miss but Jack Croft returns to the fold after his one-game loan spell at Salford Red Devils.
Lachlan Walmsley was rested last week but he’s back in the squad and it seems as though Powell has a tough decision to make when it comes to his wing spots with Matty Russell starring last time out against the Giants.
Noah High is the other man to drop out for the Trin, making way for the return of Walmsley.
Director of rugby Chester has made just one change to his Castleford side, despite losing convincingly last time out. Tom Amone in the man to drop out after injuring himself last Thursday.
Speaking after the game, Chester confirmed that Amone would miss the rest of the season but couldn’t offer a full diagnosis. Amone will be joining Hull KR next season and Willie Peters revealed on Friday night that the forward is looking at a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Sam Wood is the man to replace him with the Tigers with the centre shaking off a wrist issue to make his way back into the fold.
