Castleford Tigers v St Helens team news as key Tigers forward returns to the fold

Castleford Tigers v St Helens team news with Alex Mellor returning for the Tigers

Castleford Tigers v St Helens team news is in for Saturday night’s fixture at 8pm and both coaches have now released their starting line-ups.

Castleford go into the game off the back of a one-point loss in Golden Point to Hull KR last Friday.

The 19-18 loss was much closer than pundits and journalists predicted but the Tigers showed they won’t be a pushover in 2025.

Saints had a much easier night with an 82-0 victory over a young Salford Red Devils side, who could only name 16 players for the match.

Head coach Paul Wellens admitted it wasn’t the team that they had prepared for all week but was ultimately glad that they did what they needed to get the win.

Following their 21-man squad announcements, we now know how they will line up on matchday.

Alex Mellor also comes into the second-row after missing round one and he replaces Josh Hodson, who starts on the bench.

Ben Davies has returned to St Helens following his one-game loan to the Tigers and Will Tate requires ankle surgery so will be missing for the foreseeable future.

Castleford Tigers squad: Fletcher Rooney, Lee Kershaw, Zac Cini, Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Daejarn Asi, Tex Hoy, George Lawler, Judah Rimbu, Joe Westerman, Jeremiah Simbiken, Alex Mellor, Liam Horne.

James Bell has been dropped from the bench with Agnatius Paasi replacing him in the starting 17.

St Helens squad: Jack Welsby, Kyle Feldt, Harry Robertson, Mark Percival, Jon Bennison, Tristan Sailor, Jonny Lomax, Alex Walmsley, Daryl Clark, Matty Lees, Curtis Sironen, Joe Batchelor, Morgan Knowles.

Interchanges: Matt Whitley, Agnatius Paasi, Jake Wingfield, George Delaney.
