Castleford Tigers will head to Spain in the pre-season and the club have teased a ‘once in a lifetime fan experience’ in their ticket launch.
The Tigers won’t be the only Super League side heading abroad to play a pre-season game but they will be the only side facing foreign opposition.
Hull KR head to Amsterdam where they will face York Knights in their sole pre-season game in late January, however, Castleford Tigers will travel to Spain earlier in the month to take on local side Valencia Huracanes.
Danny McGuire’s side will play the match against the Huracanes as the culmination of a week-long warm weather training camp and the club are now inviting fans to tag along with them.
Details of the game were first confirmed last week with Castleford Tigers announcing the game as a ‘partnership’ with the Huracanes in a bid to try and grow the game in Spain. It will also see Cas players represent the Spanish outfit in long-term plans to join the RFL system.
Castleford Tigers tease huge fan prize ahead of pre-season friendly
The biggest part of the partnership for Castleford Tigers fans would be this pre-season friendly with tickets now on sale, as confirmed by the club.
A statement outlined the week’s plans and what the £49 ticket would give fans access to.
It read: “The game is part of a week-long warm weather training camp taking place from 12th to 19thJanuary to provide the squad with the opportunity to work on technical and tactical plays, away from the wintry conditions of England in January.
“The all-inclusive fan experience tickets are £49 and include a match ticket, transfer to the stadium (to and from central Benidorm), entry to exclusive Fan Forum event featuring coaches and players, entry to the FanZone pre-match, ticket to the post-match after party with entertainment, plus the opportunity to win a once in a lifetime fan experience.”
Director of Rugby Danny Wilson also commented and once again banged the drum for the ‘once in a lifetime fan experience’, something that could heighten interest in the trip.
Wilson said: “We would love to see as many Cas fans as possible joining us in Spain to roar on the boys. Yes, we will be working hard but we also want to use the trip to get closer to our fans too, and we are working on some special moments for those that travel to see us, plus a once in a lifetime fan experience that we can’t wait to share with everyone.
“But you have to be there to win it, so get your holiday days approved, get the flights booked and join us as we prepare for the 2025 Super League season and help raise the profile of rugby league in Spain.”
