Adam Milner is part of the furniture at Castleford Tigers.
After progressing through the academy set-up, Milner has been a part of a struggling Tigers side all the way through to a silverware-hunting one.
The hooker/back-rower has made almost 300 club appearances for Castleford, but his affiliation almost ended in 2021 when two local rivals came sniffing.
“It came close, to be fair (to leaving),” Milner told The Yorkshire Post.
“Looking back now I’ve got a new coach, I’m pleased how things have worked out. I love this club and everything about it.
“I’m a local lad and I don’t think the move would have been right for me or my family. I’ve got two young kids at home so spending time on the motorway wasn’t the right thing for me.
“Being a local lad, it always means that little bit more when the team is doing well. Hopefully we can keep climbing the ladder and have a good end to the season.”
Milner has adopted a new position under head coach Lee Radford following Daryl Powell’s exit – second-rower.
And, the move appears to have paid off so far in 2022, with Milner enjoying something of a revival.
