Castleford Tigers star has “successful” surgery

Danny Richardson limps off for Castleford Tigers

Since Danny Richardson left St Helens for the Castleford Tigers in 2020, his time at the club has been stifled by injuries but under Lee Radford began to show the quality he has.

However, Richardson’s mind may not be on rugby itself but rather recovery after undergoing surgery today.

The Castleford Tigers halfback described it as a success though as he took to Twitter:

“Successful operation. Time to smash this rehabs head in.”

It is now a case of recovery but he also has two players to beat to halfback spots in the shape of new recruits Warrington Wolves halfback Gareth Widdop and of course Wakefield Trinity man Jacob Miller.

It should be an interesting three-way battle for the two spots.

Richardson isn’t the only Super League star who has undergone surgery, with Ryan Brierley being at the same surgery today.

He said: “Crap seeing my mate Danny Richardson in there but know he will be back better than ever. Best of luck bro. Enjoy some time with the little one and I’ll see you back on the field.”

Richardson responded: “Thanks lad! Good to see u before, rest up mate speedy recovery. See you soon.”
