Castleford Tigers sign Warrington Wolves forward as ex-Leeds Rhinos man makes surprise exit

Castleford Tigers Super League

Castleford Tigers have announced the signing of Warrington Wolves prop Daniel Okoro on a season long loan. Okoro joins the Tigers immediately with the club announcing that Kieran Hudson, who only joined the club last month from Leeds Rhinos has left by mutual consent.

Okoro makes the move to Castleford in the hope of making his Super League debut, having failed to make his way onto the pitch at Warrington so far. The prop joined the Wolves in April after catching the eye with Bradford Bulls in the Championship, penning a deal that runs until the end of the 2027 season.

The former Hull KR man has spent time with Hunslet and Newcastle Thunder but most of his game time has come with Bradford, where he made 11 appearances and scored one try last season. Okoro, who is still just 21, has also represented Nigeria on two occasions.

He’ll know Castleford head coach Danny Maguire well from his time at Craven Park and he started training with the Tigers this week ahead of the proposed move. He’ll take the spot of Hudson in the Tigers squad, with the former Leeds man leaving Wheldon Road by mutual consent.

Hudson re-signed with the Tigers last month after seeing his deal with Leeds cut short at the end of the 2024 Super League season. However, he has now left Castleford with the club releasing him to move elsewhere.

Castleford Tigers revealed the news on their website, with a short explanation reading: “Unfortunately, the club can also confirm that Kieran Hudson has left the club by mutual consent. After a long discussion with Kieran about his goals for the future and our ambitions for the squad, he expressed a desire to pursue his future with another club. We wish Kieran all the best for the next stage of his career.”
