Castleford Tigers have shared a positive injury update on George Lawler, after he was forced into a sustained break due to medical reasons this year.
After suffering a seizure early in 2024, he missed months of action after being admitted to hospital for observation due to a small bleed on the brain.
He looked impressive on his return to action, despite what must have been a deeply troubling time for him and his family.
In fact, in the nine games he played following the layoff, the Tigers won four – an impressive rate considering their overall form across the campaign.
Castleford Tigers share positive injury update on George Lawler
The club have today shared the following statement:
“Castleford Tigers would like to provide an update on the health of George Lawler following his seizure. Initial scans suggested a small bleed on the brain; however, subsequent detailed scans and specialist neurosurgical and neurology reviews have confirmed that there was no bleed or brain injury present.
“George is now on medication to prevent future seizures and has already returned to play, fully fit and healthy.
“Dr. Nick Raynor, Head of Medical Services, said: “We are pleased with George’s recovery and the thorough evaluations that have ruled out any serious injury. George is in excellent health and has successfully returned to play. We are confident in his ability to continue contributing to the team without any further concerns.”
“We appreciate the support and well-wishes from our fans during this time and are thrilled to see George back in action.””
This is fantastic news for him, and it seems that we will continue to see him in black and amber in 2025.
