Bradford Bulls have signed Castleford Tigers man Luke Hooley on a two-month loan deal. Hooley has struggled for game time under Danny McGuire in Super League this season, failing to make an appearance in either Super League or the Challenge Cup.
As such, he’ll be keen to pick up some much needed minutes with the Bulls having joined up with Brian Noble’s side and he could make his debut this Friday when Bradford face off against Salford Red Devils in the Challenge Cup. Hooley has been named in the 21-man squad and he’ll be hoping to help the club into the quarter-finals of the competition by knocking out another Super League team.
He’ll also be looking to help Bradford build on their fine start to the Championship season as they strive to get their hands on some silverware this year. Hooley signed for Castleford ahead of the 2024 Super League season but made just 11 appearances for the club last season.
The 26-year-old started his career at Wakefield Trinity but has seen most of his game time in his career come with either Oldham, Dewsbury Rams or Batley Bulldogs, with three spells coming at the latter. He also had a brief spell with Leeds Rhinos in 2023, but he’ll be keen to kick on and really prove a point in the colours of Bradford over the next couple of months.
“It’s happened pretty quickly and I’m just excited to get back playing and enjoy my rugby again,” the Castleford Tigers man told Bradford Bulls’ official channels.
“There’s some great players in this squad and some big names so it’s good to just get alongside them, get to meet them and have a run out with them.
“I’ve played a lot of Championship rugby and it’s probably where I played my best rugby if I’m honest so I’m looking to get that at the Bulls. I’m pretty easy going so I’ll fit in pretty well.”
On the potential of making his debut at Salford this Friday, he added. “It will be a tough game. There’s a lot going on over there and Bradford had a loss at the weekend so they’ll be looking to get back out there.”
