A new name has been added to Castleford Tigers’ injury list. Tigers were without half-back Rowan Milnes (knee), winger Louis Senior (quad muscle) and prop Sam Hall (shoulder) when they lost 32-8 at Wakefield Trinity last week.

Now winger Jason Qareqare has joined them on the sidelines and looks set to miss next weekend’s Betfred Challenge Cup third round tie at Bradford Bulls.

Coach Danny McGuire revealed: “He pulled out of training the other day, it was some form of hamstring so I need to double-check with the doctors and medical staff, but he won’t play this week and will probably be out for a few weeks.”

Tigers complete their pre-season campaign tomorrow (Saturday) against Hull FC in Joe Westerman’s testimonial game at the Jungle. Centre Josh Hodson also drops out from last week’s squad, due to illness.

After using 29 players against Trinity, McGuire said: “We are trying to keep it a bit more real this week, a bit more like we would in a week’s time when we’ve got a competitive game.

“The 20 will all get game time and an opportunity to put their best foot forward for the first game.

“I don’t think we did ourselves justice last week at Wakey, but we are at home in front of our crowd so we get a chance to put a few things right.”

McGuire reckons the poor effort at Wakefield has made tomorrow’s game, which kicks off at 3pm, “bigger” for Tigers as they prepare for a tough challenge at Odsal.

He said: “We did some really good things in pre-season, we wanted to transfer that into the game and make a good first impression last week and we didn’t quite do that.

“There was a bit of disappointment around the place, which is good. It tells me they care and want to get better.

“I’d be very surprised and disappointed if we didn’t see a reaction this week. It is only a friendly, but it probably means a bit more to us to get our performance right and get some confidence leading into next week’s game and the start of Super League.”

Castleford Tigers’ squad to face Hull is: Tex Hoy, Zac Cini, Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Daejarn Asi, Liam Watts, Liam Horne, George Lawler, Jeremiah Simbiken, Alex Mellor, Joe Westerman, Judah Rimbu, George Griffin, Cain Robb, Luke Hooley, Muizz Mustapha, Sylvester Namo, Fletcher Rooney, Josh Simm, Dan Okoro.
