Castleford Tigers man join Leigh Centurions’ Leopard revolution

Leigh Centurions, now rebranded as the Leopards, have confirmed some major signings and a Castleford Tigers man is one of them.

Castleford Tigers have today confirmed that Gareth O’Brien will be leaving the club and joining newly promoted Leigh Leopards from 2023.

The Leigh club have also just announced today (Thursday 20th October) that they are rebranding to be known as Leigh Leopards going forward.

Gareth has been a fantastic servant to the Fords, playing for the club on 43 occasions scoring eight tries, and with his boot he has kicked 15 goals and five drop goals, including the two game winning moments in the Tigers’ run to the Challenge Cup Final in 2021.

Lee Radford paid thanks to Gareth O’Brien and wished him well as he heads into a new chapter with Leigh for 2023.

“Even though I only worked with Gaz (O’Brien) for 12 months I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him. This season he’s played a number of positions for us at Cas and I’m sure that utility value will be good for Leigh as they come into Super League.

It shouldn’t be a massive loss for the Tigers who, like Leigh, have done some impressive recruitment going into 2023.

They have signed the likes of Gareth Widdop and Jacob Miller who replace the departing Jake Trueman and Gareth O’Brien whilst Danny Richardson is still at the club.
