Castleford Tigers make decision on Danny Richardson’s return from injury

Danny Richardson suffered a horrible neck injury earlier this season which had fans fearing that it could be a long time until the Tigers may be able to call upon the scrum-half again.

However, he has battled back and has been named in Lee Radford’s last two 21-man squads. He was not risked against Catalans in the Tigers’ last game but some hoped they may see him play against Hull KR tomorrow in a big game for Cas as they look to cut the gap to the play-offs after a poor start to the season.

Nonetheless, the Tigers have revealed that he will not play tomorrow after he was named in the reserves side to take on Leeds Rhinos today.

Interestingly, he’s joined by Sosaia Feki who is battling back from long term injuries himself and is set to join Featherstone on a two-week loan in the coming weeks.

Brad Martin also features despite playing in the defeat to Catalans. There is no Ryan Hampshire at all after he was included in the 21-man squad for Sunday’s game.

It’s a very strong reserves side who are currently making light work of a Leeds side complete with eight non-Leeds players including Feki’s soon to be teammate Brandon Pickersgill of Featherstone. The Tigers are currently leading 12-4 with Richardson kicking two goals.
