Castleford Tigers have been linked with yet another player from NRL side St George Illawarra Dragons.
After already completing deals for Damien Cook and Mat Feagai for 2027, that duo could well become a trio, with Dragons full-back Tyrell Sloan being linked to the club.
Sloan is no stranger to having his name in the mouths of UK clubs, with the 24-year-old being one of the first names originally linked to London Broncos back in September.
Able to play at full-back or on the wing, Australian media outlet Code Sports have linked him to the Tigers, in what would be another St George man to leave the club, and he would be the fourth to depart for Super League after Emre Guler joined Wakefield Trinity earlier this week.
The speedster has made seven NRL appearances this season, but has varied in his positions, playing at full-back, wing, centre and on the bench. Scoring 49 tries in 86 appearances, Sloan is said to have a good relationship with Caslteford boss Ryan Carr, who is speadheading a long-term rebuild at the Onebore Stadium.
Should he make the move over though, it does beg the question as to where he will play. With Blake Taaffe set to return from injury next year, it suggests he could play on the wing, and that puts either Mikaele Ravalawa or Semi Valemei’s spot in the first team at risk. You then also have to factor in Jason Qareqare. who has built a sensational left edge with Krystian Mapapalangi over the past few months.
Another option could be that Taaffe moves to the halves, replacing the off-contract Daejarn Asi, with Sloan then able to secure the number one spot.
Sloan spoke to Australian media earlier this week, outlining his desire to stay at the Dragons, however he would understand if he had to move away.
He said: “I love this club, I’d do anything for the Red V. It’s home for me.
“I don’t want to leave, but I do know it’s a business. When I do wear that jersey, I just want to wear it with pride.
