Ryan Carr has confirmed that Castleford Tigers have picked up another injury to their outside backs, in what is concerning news just a week before the season begins.
Centre Louis Senior had to leave the field early on in the Tigers’ final pre-season game against St Helens, and it has now been confirmed by the boss that he will be out for the foreseeable.
The Irish international has picked up an ankle injury, something that Carr is disappointed by after being impressed by him in the pre-season.
Confirming the news in a press conference ahead of the club’s Challenge Cup game against Doncaster, the boss spoke on how frustrating it is for Senior, particularly with the season so close to starting.
He said: “It was really disappointing because he sort of finished last year with a quad injury that kept him out for the majority of pre-season and he worked really hard to get himself back and in really good nick.
“I was really impressed with how he was progressing along and then just one of those innocuous tackles that got his leg stuck in an unfortunate position. So yeah, he’s going to be out for a bit of time there.”

There is no date for Senior’s return just yet, and the same can be said for fellow outside backs Zac Cini and Semi Valemei.
The overseas pair are both nursing soft tissue injuries, and those types of knock can vary from player to player, so there is no timescale as to when they will be back in the side.
Carr revealed: “[Soft tissue injuries] can sometimes be faster, sometimes they can be a bit slower. So we’re just going day by day and yeah, they’ll be back as quick as possible.
“But the thing that we need to be conscious of is when they do come back, they stay back and they don’t re-injure themselves. That’s really crucial because we haven’t even started the season yet.”
