Castleford Tigers halfback Danny Richardson calls into question penalty decision in Hull KR loss

Castleford Tigers were hampered last night – not just with their own errors – but also by two cards given to their men.

After referees have been tasked to crack down on foul play, the number of cards being dished out are increasing like never seen before in a Super League season.

Another two cards were dished out tonight with referee Liam Moore deciding to send Castleford Tigers pair Bureta Faraimo and Liam Watts to the sinbin. Both were questionable, but with the new rules taking hold, Moore was insistent on sending the Tigers duo for a ten-minute breather.

Granted, Castleford have been poor so far this season. But, there were a number of penalties that went against the Tigers that were quite baffling. Faraimo tackling Will Dagger in the air was the most obvious with the Hull KR fullback losing the ball before a Castleford player even laid a finger on him.

And, it was this decision which halfback Danny Richardson was taken aback by.

Richardson tweeted: “Seen it all now if that’s a penalty, just got to laugh.”

Hull KR looked more like the Robins in 2021 with Mikey Lewis having a field day and the likes of Sam Wood and Elliot Minchella having stellar games. Matt Parcell and Jez Litten combined expertly to take the game away from the Tigers in the second-half.
