Castleford Tigers’ Danny Richardson opens up on injury ‘nightmare’

Castleford Tigers have been doing it tough in 2022 so far.

Not only do they not have a point to their name after two games, but one of their main halfbacks Danny Richardson now faces an extended spell on the sidelines following a fractured bone in his neck.

The number 7 suffered a neck injury in Castleford’s 26-16 loss to Salford Red Devils in round one, with head coach Lee Radford then confirming the news.

“We’re looking at it more in depth,” Radford told the Yorkshire Post.

“They have obviously found something and he’s still with the docs still trying to find a little bit more to see where it’s at.

“It’s not looking great.”

The former Hull FC boss also stressed that the club didn’t know how long the halfback would be out for.

Radford added: “It happened in the second half and it was a poor tackle technique.

“He copped one when he put his head in the wrong place which happens in this sport, unfortunately.”

And, now Richardson himself has had his say on the injury on his Instagram profile.

The halfback wrote: “Nightmare start to 2022. Just another hurdle in the career of a rugby player. Thank you for all the well wishes I appreciate it.”
