Today, Castleford Tigers have already received bad news with their stadium being vandalised by three young boys resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Making matters worse, they’ve been forced to announce more bad news this evening confirming the extent of Ryan Hampshire’s injury.
A former Tiger who also enjoyed a successful stint with rivals Wakefield was re-signed by Castleford earlier this year as injuries mounted in key positions especially at fullback with Niall Evalds being ruled out.
Hampshire’s second Tigers stint didn’t get off to a great start however. After scoring in a reserves match he was forced off with a broken wrist.
He did battle back to fitness to take the reigns at fullback following another injury to Evalds. Sadly though he was struck by another injury himself as Castleford defeated Catalans in a huge game that sparked their season into life and was followed up by a win against another top four team in Huddersfield.
Lessening the blow was the return of Evalds to the 21-man squad but he was unable to feature in the win over Huddersfield but is expected to return to the side against Leeds at the Magic Weekend next week after Greg Eden starred at fullback on Friday night.
However, Lee Radford will be hoping that Evalds doesn’t pick up another injury this season now that Hampshire has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The club confirmed tonight that he has suffered an ACL injury will likely end his campaign. Depending on what the future holds, it may also be the last time he plays for the Tigers.
Castleford Tigers can regrettably confirm Ryan Hampshire has suffered an ACL injury.
Everyone at the Tigers would like to wish Rocky a very speedy recovery. 🧡
