Castleford Tigers confirm 2025 squad numbers to lock in new-look Danny McGuire squad

Castleford Tigers have become the sixth and latest Super League side to lock in their squad numbers for the upcoming 2025 season, confirming the news just a couple of days after making their final overseas signing.

The Tigers continued their Papua New Guinean connection as they signed second-rower Jeremiah Simbiken to their seventh and final overseas quota spot and it would seem that his signing marks the last piece of recruitment that the club will undertake.

That’s because Castleford have now announced their squad numbers for the upcoming campaign and they’ve left no numbers available, suggesting their recruitment is complete.

In an off-season of change that has seen Martin Jepson assume near full control of the club and then appoint Danny McGuire as head coach, there is also plenty of change in the squad numbers.

Nine players departed at the end of the 2024 season whilst this off-season has seen six players sign, albeit the Senior brothers are loan deals becoming permanent and Kieran Hudson is an old face who returns to the Jungle.

Despite that, there’s been a large number of changes in the squad and that’s meant new numbers for lots of players both old and new.

Last year, Tex Hoy signed mid-season and transformed the club’s performances and he’s been rewarded with the number one shirt.

Jason Qareqare jumps from number 23 to number 2 meaning Josh Simm moves to 24 after his injury-struck first campaign, whilst Louis Senior takes number 22.

New recruit Zac Cini claims three whilst fellow overseas signings Daejarn Asi (six) and Jeremiah Simbiken (11) claim ‘starting’ numbers. Judah Rimbu takes the number 14 with incumbent hooker Liam Horne claiming the number nine after Paul McShane’s exit.

Rowan Milnes moves to claim the starting seven shirt after Jacob Miller’s exit whilst youngster Jenson Windley, who could serve as the primary backup takes shirt number 27. Fellow young talent Fletcher Rooney has been handed the number 23 shirt.
