Castleford Tigers v Catalans Dragons predicted teams as four key men ruled out

Castleford Tigers host Catalans Dragons today with both struggling sides looking to kickstart their season. Here is how they could line up.

Both teams are desperate for a win after picking up just one so far in Super League with both coming in Round Four as Castleford got over Salford Red Devils, and Catalans nilled Leeds in Perpignan.

Had Catalans lost that then you’d say that the pressure would have really ramped up on Steve McNamara but his side found a way and he’ll be hoping for the same at The Jungle today.

For Castleford, they’re looking to string some form together but it won’t be easy with a number of injuries still hitting them hard.

The Tigers didn’t play last weekend after being knocked out of the Challenge Cup in Round Three by Bradford Bulls, however, the absence of a game did not mean the absence of injury as rising star full-back Fletcher Rooney found out.

Castleford have confirmed that they will be without the speedster for the next four months after Rooney suffered a quadriceps injury in training, which is a massive blow for both the Tigers and the teenager.

There is a boost in that Rowan Milnes has returned after a knee injury ruled him out in the early season exchanges whilst the Tigers’ new signing Brad Singleton could be thrown straight into the mix.

Prop/loose forward Joe Westerman found himself in hospital on a drip for a few days and although “fine now”, Danny McGuire admitted the game will likely come too soon for him.

Predicted Castleford Tigers XIII: Tex Hoy, Josh Simm, Zac Cini, Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Daejarn Asi, Rowan Milnes, Dan Okoro, Judah Rimbu, George Lawler, Jeremiah Simbiken, Alex Mellor, Liam Horne

Interchanges: Cain Robb, Brad Singleton, Sylvester Namo, Muizz Mustapha

Catalans Dragons predicted team

Whilst there is spine change at Castleford, there’s also some for Catalans with star Arthur Mourgue leaving the club to join Hull KR nine months earlier than intended after an agreement between the sides.

That means Sam Tomkins will remain at full-back whilst reports in the French press suggest that youngster Guillermo Aispiro-Bichet could play with Luke Keary in the halves.

Both Tommy Makinson and Tariq Sims miss out again having not played in the Challenge Cup win over Featherstone Rovers.

Predicted Catalans Dragons XIII: Sam Tomkins, Fouad Yaha, Matthieu Laguerre, Reimis Smith, Nick Cotric, Luke Keary, Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet, Julian Bousquet, Alrix Da Costa, Tevita Pangai Jr, Benjamin Garcia, Eliott Whitehead, Oliver Partington

Interchanges: Chris Satae, Romain Navarrete, Paul Seguier, Arthur Romano
