Castleford Tigers boss Lee Radford ‘frustrated’ as he explains decision to take Jake Mamo off and drops Cheyse Blair hint

Castleford Tigers went down 30-14 to Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium tonight – and were second best for 75 minutes.

The Tigers ran into a 4-0 lead in the opening five minutes, but they offered little throughout after that and head coach Lee Radford was annoyed by the difference in performances from game to game.

“The level of inconsistency is frustrating,” Radford said live on Sky Sports.

“If you watched our performance last week compared to that tonight, the gap is too big in general.

“Where we sit in the league table is the reason for that and you have to show more consistency.

“We had a short turnaround leading into this one and a long one leading into the last one, so this week we haven’t had much opportunity on the field and unfortunately mentally we haven’t grabbed the bull by the horns and we were poor in a lot of departments.

“I don’t feel like territory wise they had an awful lot but when they got there they hurt us.”

Radford also took Jake Mamo off 30 minutes into the game and he explained why.

“I wanted to give Cheyse Blair a go in the centre as he’s been waiting in the wings – moving forward it might be something we look at.”
