Castleford Tigers boss Lee Radford confirms new signing and gives update on Niall Evalds and Sosaia Feki

Castleford Tigers’ Lee Radford met with the press today to discuss his side’s injury problems as well as to confirm a new signing coming through the door at the Jungle.

The Tigers have been rocked in recent weeks with injuries and last weekend was no different with Jordan Turner fracturing his hand.

Niall Evalds also sat out again and, when asked about Evalds’ injury, Radford told Yorkshire Live: “It’s a hamstring. How long, hopefully it’s sooner rather than later but it’s not soon enough, unfortunately.”

The former Hull FC boss also gave an update on Adam Milner and Nathan Massey.

“Massey will be a couple of weeks hopefully,” Radford continued. “He’s ticking a lot of boxes but he came back from the injury and re-did it, so we’re conscious we don’t want a repeat of that.

“Adam Milner is getting closer, he’s had an injection in his back on Monday and he feels a lot better for it so hopefully the impingement has gone. Hopefully that continues.”

Sosaia Feki, Jacques O’Neill and Callum McLelland have also been absent for a number of months and Radford gave a big update.

“He’s going to be well over a month with the long-term gravity of the situation,” Radford said of Feki.

“It’s a long time to be in rehab but he’s back running on the field and he’s gradually picking up the pace. He’s in good hands with (physio) Matty Crowther. Him, McLelland and O’Neill, they’re a fair bit off.”

However the Tigers head coach did confirm that Ryan Hampshire will play for the reserves this weekend.
