Castleford Tigers announce superb attendance numbers after victory over Hull FC

Castleford Tigers overcame Hull FC today in a nervy affair.

The end result was 33-26, but the Tigers fully deserved the two points with Lee Radford getting off the mark for the first time as Castleford head coach.

The West Yorkshire side were leading from the first eight seconds when Daniel Smith scooped up a Chris Satae knock-on from the kick-off to race under the posts.

From then on, Castleford were in no mood to relinquish their lead with Gareth O’Brien’s late drop-goal finally settling the matter in front of a packed out Jungle.

That packed out Jungle was indeed an attendance of over 10,000 – for the second time in 2022 – and the club must take a hell of a lot of credit for bringing in new as well as existing fans together yet again.

Round one was a huge disappointment at home against Salford Red Devils under a full house at the Jungle, but it was almost another full house when Hull came to town today, too.

Granted, almost 2,500 Hull fans made the trip down the M62, but that would still have left 7,500 Castleford supporters – a stunning figure with the club previously three losses from three games.

The Tigers are obviously getting out and about and bringing in new deals for the family as well as enhancing the pre- and post-match entertainment around the Jungle.
