Castleford Tigers announce incredible sales for Super League opener

Castleford Tigers have announced incredible ticket sales for tonight’s Super League opener with Salford Red Devils.

Over 10,000 fans will be flocking towards the Jungle tonight – that figure itself isn’t that eyewatering, but when considering that Castleford has a population of 44,000 it becomes incredible.

Effectively, almost one in four will be heading down Wheldon Road ahead of kick off tonight.

Of course, that isn’t the correct statistic, after all, fans will be coming from surrounding towns, villages and even cities.

With the club currently teetering on the 9,500 mark last night – including over 3,500 season memberships – the Tigers were given the green light by government regulations to increase the capacity to 10,500.

That means Castleford could have a full house inside the Jungle for what is expected to be an exciting game and season for the club under new head coach Lee Radford.

Seven of Lee Radford’s Castleford signings have made his maiden squad of 2022 and six could potentially be in line to make their first Tigers appearance.
