Castleford Tigers boss reveals latest injury blow after victory at Hull FC

Castleford Tigers head coach Craig Lingard has revealed his side’s latest injury blow in a busy season for the medical team.

The Tigers confirmed that they can’t finish any lower than 10th in the league with a 39-20 victory over Hull FC, and consigned the Black and Whites to the bottom two.

It was a low-quality fixture, and the Tigers should have had the game wrapped up before two Hull FC tries before half-time, and early in the second-half, yellow cards for Sylvester Namo and Liam Horne, made it a little close for comfort.

However, the Tigers confirmed their victory through tries from Tex Hoy and Namo, and a drop-goal from Milnes, to make it, ultimately, a good day at the MKM Stadium.

It did, however, show just how poor Hull FC are at the moment, and they remain on six points – two fewer than Wakefield Trinity managed last season in their rock-bottom relegation season.

Cain Robb was back in the matchday squad this week as 18th man after a shoulder injury sustained against Hull KR, while another hooker – Paul McShane – returned to the side last week after another long-term absence.

However, it’s not all good news on the injury front for Craig Lingard’s side, and he said after the game in the press conference: “Yeah, Will Tate rolled his ankle, he’s currently in a boot so we’ll assess how Will is.

“I think it’s his good bad ankle, he was out for 12 months with a bad leg break and dislocation, I don’t think it’s that one.

“So we’re hoping it’s not going to be too long, but he’s in a boot at the minute, so we’ll assess him next week.”

The 22-year-old was out for almost exactly a year, due to a serious ankle injury, but has started at centre for the last three games.
