Castleford Tigers 33-26 Hull FC: Highlights, player ratings & talking points

Castleford Tigers took on Hull FC this afternoon with Lee Radford hunting his first win as Castleford head coach against his former side.

It was fast and frenetic from start to finish with the Jungle crowd treated to a try-scoring fest as Castleford came out 33-26 winners.

Highlights

Greg Eden’s third try for his hat-trick was an incredible score – definitely one for the highlights reel.

Joe Westerman’s celebration at full-time showed just how important his first win in Tigers colours since his return meant to him.

Talking points

1. Confusion in the ranks

Late on in the game, referee Robert Hicks gave Hull FC’s Connor Wynne a green card for the first since its inception. There was a bit of confusion in the ranks with Wynne holding his arm in his own ten-metre area as the rest of his teammates broke up field. Wynne was willing to rejoin the line, but Hicks made him get treatment off the field.

2. Greg Eden comes back with a bang

Greg Eden hasn’t played all season, but made his impact felt for the Tigers instantly, scoring a hat-trick with the last the pick of the bunch. The winger was fed the ball and dummied Jake Connor to finish expertly in the corner. What a superb return for the 30-year-old.

3. What went wrong for Hull?

Hull were second best for most of the game with only a 20-minute purple patch in the second-half threatening a comeback. Jake Connor and Josh Reynolds looked frustrated with the team just not clicking in attack.
