Castleford Tigers 32-0 Hull KR: Highlights, player ratings and talking points

Castleford Tigers took on Hull KR at the Jungle this afternoon.

The Tigers crossed first through George Griffin before Liam Watts was sinbinned for a high tackle on Lachlan Coote.

It was one way traffic from Castleford in the first-half as Kenny Edwards dotted down, with Jake Mamo and Jason Qareqare adding two more before the break for a 24-0 lead.

Mamo intercepted to run the full length of the field just after the break before Qareqare got his second to round the scoring off at 32-0.

Highlights

Kenny Edwards rounding Ben Crooks and dotting down was a joy to behold.

Jason Qareqare’s incredible pace and agility was on show again as the Castleford man sprinted down the touchline and went round Lachlan Coote as though he wasn’t there.

Talking points

1. Qareqare the man

How good is this teenager? Jason Qareqare scored another sensational try in Castleford’s first-half demolition of Hull KR, sprinting down the wing before rounding Rovers fullback Lachlan Coote as though he wasn’t there.

2. Hull KR’s spiral

Hull KR have seemingly fallen off the edge of the cliff since Tony Smith’s departure was announced. They not only lost the Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield Giants, they were soundly beaten by Castleford. All in all, Rovers have scored just one try in two games.

3. Hampshire back with a bang

Ryan Hampshire hasn’t played a Super League since the end of 2021, but, after breaking his hand in a reserves game earlier this year, the livewire fullback came back with a bang against Hull KR. He was instrumental in both attack and defence and gave the Tigers an extra spark in attack that they have been missing.
