Castleford target ruled out for over six months with serious knee injury

Tinirau Arona (10) of Wakefield Trinity tackled by Kruise Leeming (9), Bodene Thompson (20) and Callum McLelland (23) of Leeds Rhinos.

Leeds duo Konrad Hurrell and Callum McLelland have likely played their last games for the club after suffering injuries.

The halfback’s is particularly troubling, with head coach Richard Agar putting a six month timeframe on the problem.

With Hurrell already confirmed to be leaving – with St Helens his likeliest destination – and McLelland linked with a move to Castleford, both will likely not turn out in a Rhinos shirt again.

“Still struggling with that one. Probably unlikely that we’ll get Konrad back,” Agar said when asked about Hurrell.

“He’s got a ruptured patella tendon and has had surgery,” Agar said on McLellenad.

“I’ll estimate it at six months, it could be a fraction more, it could be a fraction less – but at the moment if all goes good, we’re hoping that’s going to be six months.

“It’s a real tough one for Callum, he’s had a tough year with injuries, the poor kid.”
