Castleford set to unveil new assistant coach

Andy Last is set to be unveiled as Castleford Tigers’ new assistant coach, according to Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks.

It would be no surprise considering Last was number two to new Castleford boss Lee Radford whilst they were both at Hull FC, but Last has been rumoured to take over at Wakefield following the sacking of Chris Chester.

Radford has already begun an impressive recruitment drive with the likes of Bureta Faraimo, Jake Mamo and Joe Westerman being announced and others such as George Lawler and Callum McLelland rumoured to have signed.

Last was second-in-command when Radford went back-to-back in Challenge Cup victories in 2016 and 2017 and the Tigers faithful will be hoping for more of the same if the two reunite at the Jungle in 2022.

Meanwhile, Brian McDermott is said to be in the running for the Wakefield job, having met with chairman Michael Carter during the week.
