Castleford head coach Daryl Powell has revealed that two players could be in line for their Tigers debuts against St Helens this weekend.
Fullback Gareth O’Brien, who signed on loan from Toronto earlier this week, could be drafted straight into the starting XIII to make what would be his second Castleford debut after having a short spell with the club in 2013.
Meanwhile, winger Sosaia Feki, who has so far been kept out by a calf injury, is also close to making his Super League bow.
Powell confirmed the pair have worked hard in training and will be in contention as the club look to bounce back from last week’s heavy defeat to Catalans.
“Gareth O’Brien will be in the squad and Sosaia Feki is extremely close to playing,” he said. “So far in training I have been pleased from what I have seen from both of them.
“Feki is keeping up his fitness. He has worked hard over lockdown to shake off his injury and should he miss out this week then he will definitely be in for our next match.
“As for Gareth, the pressure could be on him to deliver as he comes in as another play-maker. However, his skill he’s shown has impressed me. He understands the game and can read where space is and where the ball needs to go.
“He’s another who has been working hard and if he does play, I am confident he can handle the expectation pretty well.”
Powell also confirmed that prop Liam Watts will return after missing the Saints clash due to a freak arm injury caused by a saw.
