Mick Cassidy will take over from Matty Peet as Wigan Warriors’ Head of Youth at the end of this season.
Cassidy is a renowned figure around Wigan after a 13-year spell as a player with the Warriors, winning 16 honours.
Current Head of Youth, Peet, is heading to Sale Sharks at the end of the year.
Wigan Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, commented: “We’re delighted to be bringing Mick Cassidy back to Wigan but we’re sad to be saying farewell to Matty Peet,”
“Mick will bring a wealth of experience to our organisation to build on the excellent work Matty has done during his time with the Club.”
Cassidy added: “I’m both delighted and excited to return to Wigan Warriors as Head of Youth,”
“I’ve been at Widnes for nine years and gained a great deal of experience during my time there coaching both the First Team and the Academy sides, so I feel this is a great opportunity to progress.
“As a young player myself, I came through the Wigan Academy system and was taught the ‘Wigan Way’.
“I’m confident that I can help build on the strong foundations at a very successful Club.”
