Carney refused number 99 shirt by the RFL

Salford Red Devils signing Todd Carney will not wear number 99 for the club as originally stated.
The club announced on social media this week that their new half-back would wear number 99 for the 2017 season, but the RFL have informed the club this is not an option.
A reason has yet to be given for why Carney originally chose the unusual squad number, or why the RFL have said he is not allowed to wear it.
The Red Devils revealed the news on Facebook: “Some sad news to bring you… The RFL have informed us that Todd Carney is not allowed to wear #99. He will wear #29 instead!”
