Australia half-back Todd Carney has got the green light on his move to Salford after his via application was approved over night.

The former New South Wales star was announced as a new signing by the Red Devils on a one-year contract in January, but he has had to wait on making the move while his visa application was reviewed.

Carney, 30, has spent the last two seasons playing for the Catalans Dragons where he scored 9 tries in 33 appearances.

“It’s a quality signing for us that gives us real competition for places across the board now,” said Salford head coach Ian Watson.

“Todd is able to play in all the positions along the spine of the team. Speaking to Todd over the Christmas period, I know how excited he is to come across and perform for the club.”
