Card compilation: Super League stars punished with red and yellow cards for foul play in round one

Referees have gone into the 2022 Super League season eager to crack down on foul play in a bid to alleviate the number of injuries sustained in the elite competition.

Over the weekend of round one fixtures, three men received red cards with another five punished with yellows – including two games that had three cards in total.

For us at Serious About Rugby League, with the increasing number of punishments being handed out, we thought it would be beneficial if all of the cards dished out at the weekend were put in one place.

St Helens v Catalans Dragons
Morgan Knowles (St Helens) – running in – yellow card
Gil Dudson (Catalans Dragons) – striking out – yellow card
Dylan Napa (Catalans Dragons) – shoulder charge – red card

Castleford Tigers v Salford Red Devils
Bureta Faraimo (Castleford Tigers) – high tackle – yellow card

Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves
James Bentley (Leeds Rhinos) – high tackle – red card
Brad Dwyer (Leeds Rhinos) – late tackle – yellow card
Oliver Holmes (Warrington Wolves) – high tackle – yellow card

Wakefield Trinity v Hull FC
Jake Connor (Hull FC) – high tackle – red card
