Canterbury Bulldogs snare highly-rated winger from rivals

Canterbury Bulldogs have reportedly snared highly-rated Jacob Kiraz from Newcastle Knights.

Kiraz spent the 2021 NRL season as a Newcastle Knights player on a development contract, but failed to impress enough to make his NRL debut.

The Lebanese international has previously been at the St George Illawarra Dragons where he was apart of the clubs 2019 SG Ball squad, playing eight games before a move to the North Queensland Cowboys on a three-year deal was expected to put him on the map.

However, he was there for just one season, instead linking up with the Knights where he scored tries in nine games for the club’s New South Wales Cup squad.

Kiraz has been twice capped by Lebanon.

According to Wide World of Sports, he has now returned to his junior roots, though whether is contract is in the development area or top 30 remains to be seen.

He had been upgraded to the top 30 in 2022 at the Knights, but wanted to return to Sydney.

“He’s a good kid with plenty of ability,” Gould told the World Wide of Sports.

The 20-year-old is likely to begin training with the Bulldogs in the coming days as head coach Trent Barrett attempts to inspire a much better 2022 after collecting the wooden spoon last season.
