Canterbury Bulldogs fullback Matt Dufty rejected ‘lucrative’ move to Super League

There was a period last year when current Canterbury Bulldogs fullback Matt Dufty was linked with a move to Super League.
With St George Illawarra Dragons refusing to hand the livewire a new contract, it was left up to Dufty and his agent to seal a transfer elsewhere.
But, despite interest from Super League and a ‘lucrative offer’, the 26-year-old chose to stay in the NRL and turn things around after enduring a difficult few seasons with the Dragons, according to Fox Sports.
“It feels like I’ve got a new lease on rugby league and it’s the most excited I’ve felt about a new season for a while,” Dufty told Fox Sports.
“You look at the signings the Bulldogs have got coming next year and the direction the club is headed and it’s exciting.
“If I wanted money or anything like that I could have gone overseas but I feel like I’ve still got something to prove in the NRL.
“If all goes according to plan then I’d love to try and stay at Canterbury beyond this season and repay the club by winning some games.”
Dufty scored 44 tries in 82 appearances for St George, but was deemed surplus to requirements at the end of 2021.
