Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam has commented on the future of his son and star player Lachlan Lam after reports and rumours that the 26-year-old is set to join Hull FC.
The transfer stories surrounding Lachlan Lam began earlier in the week when Rugby League Live revealed that Lam had been offered to other Super League clubs ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Confusion reigned over the legitimacy of Lam’s team possibly seeking a Super League move with no clear or apparent ruling on whether a clause in his contract prevents him from doing so.
Leigh Leopards’ club policy when recruiting is always to not speak on the matter but head coach Adrian Lam was asked about Lachlan’s future in his post-match presser for the win over London Broncos.
That was because just that night Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks had reported that Hull FC had “got their man” with the Australian reporting that Lam to FC was a done deal for 2025.
The rumours hadn’t affected Lam’s on-field performance with the playmaker picking up Man of the Match, something his father and coach Adrian noted before being quizzed on his future.
“I think he got Man of the Match and scored a try. I think he had a hand in three or four of the others, so he’s had a really influential night and I thought his kicking game was probably the best it has been this season.”

On the night of his 100th career appearance, the attention was all on Lachlan Lam and head coach Adrian was asked about that speculation regarding his son’s future.
The Leigh Leopards boss batted it back as simply speculation, stating: “That’s what it is at the moment, it’s speculation. I think it’s something that Chris Chester will take care of as usual,” Lam explained in his presser.
“For me, it’s more about how these sort of issues can be distractions so we’ve got to just make sure that we look after each other in the sense of the day-to-day basis of what’s in front of us, and not let that distract us.”
When asked specifically about reports from the Hull Daily Mail regarding Lachlan Lam becoming the fifth Leigh Leopards player to make the move to Hull FC, head coach Adrian Lam was dismissive.
“Whatever they say is whatever they say. I can’t control the rumours or speculation, all I can control is what’s in front of us here.
“At the moment, it’s two wins in a row and we’ve got a massive game ahead of us next week. Lachlan has had two Man of the Matches back to back so hopefully he can make it a third one.”
That game against St Helens is indeed a massive game with a win potentially drawing Leigh just one point shy of seventh-placed Leeds Rhinos and keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
