Cade Cust injury update as Jai Field substitution explained as Wigan Warriors look ahead to play-offs

Wigan Warriors' Cade Cust has been one of Salford Red Devils' key signings.

When Wigan won the Challenge Cup, it was a costly but massive triumph.

Thomas Leuluai suffered an injury setback as Cade Cust picked up an elbow injury which left him out for a number of weeks.

Tonight, as Wigan prepared for play-off rugby, Cust again picked up an elbow injury after a tackle in the second half which saw him go down to the ground awkwardly.

Fortunately for Wigan, the retiring Leuluai returned to the fold tonight off the bench and Sam Powell is also set to be back in time for the semi-finals in a fortnight but it sure is a bitter blow for Wigan on a night where the news broke through Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks that Liam Farrell has suffered a low grade ACL which leaves him “touch and go” for the rest of the season and for the World Cup where he was surely nailed on.

Cust went straight down the tunnel and came back out in a sling in images reminiscent of the cup final in which he collected his medal with his arm wrapped up in his shirt.

Chris Brooks the Wigan doctor told Jenna Brooks that it wasn’t the same elbow which he injured in that cup final and was described as a jarred elbow.

Jai Field joined him on the bench but Wigan fans need not worry with Brooks confirming that this was just to protect the fullback ahead of the play-offs.
