Former Leeds Rhinos scrum half Rob Burrow has had a thoroughbred racehorse named after him to help raise money for MND.
The horse, which will be named Burrow Seven, is set to make its professional debut in January 2021.
People can buy memberships for £59, which will go towards research done by the MND Association. You can also have the opportunity to win tickets to watch him from the owner’s enclosure and visit the training yard.
The membership lasts until 31st October 2021.
Burrow met the racehorse for the first time on 2nd November at Burrow Seven’s training yard in Leyburn, North Yorkshire. He was accompanied by former teammate Barrie McDermott and his mother and father, Irene and Geoff.
Burrow said: “I’m a bit overwhelmed. I’ve been excited about this fundraising campaign for some time but meeting this magnificent racehorse was something else.
“I’m really honoured to have him named after me and I can’t wait to see him in his first race. Thank you to everyone who supports the MND Association by taking part. Research is the key to cure this disease. Together we can do it.”
